IPAD AND IOS APP

App for Life Flight

Utah-based Intermountain Healthcare (IHC), a non-profit system of 22 hospitals and 185 patient clinics, came to Spire Digital to develop custom apps for iOS and iPad that could be integrated with their electronic medical record (EMR) database. Specifically, IHC requested an app for their Life Flight team and a diabetes monitor application. Spire’s custom app development enabled IHC to sync critical patient data with hospital records via mobile devices, providing the fastest—and best—patient care possible.

Secure, Automated Software

As a mobile intensive care unit, IHC’s Life Flight team is committed to providing best-in-class air transport services, and equally best-in-class patient care. They needed an app that could give first responders access to a patient’s full medical history, saving precious response time and better equipping medical teams in diagnosis and treatment. The same mobile and tablet access to patient records was also necessary when monitoring patients with diabetes. Ultimately, IHC needed secure, scalable, partially automated tools to better service both patients and staff.

iPad and iOS Development

The Spire interaction design and product development team’s tasks included requirements definition, user experience research and best practices, custom application development for iPad and iOS, and web services development and integration. Keeping response time in mind and to a minimum, Spire also developed a custom barcode scanner for patient identification within the applications.

Firsthand Access to Patient Records

Targeted for first responders, ambulatory care, firefighters and patient intake centers, the IHC Life Flight iPad app collects patient data and provides medical crews firsthand access to patient records. The app integrates with IHC’s EMR system and fax submission database, facilitating fast medical responses and top-notch care for patients with mobile-accessible patient data at the ready. In addition, the diabetes monitor application computes the recommended insulin dosages required for patients while also syncing with those patients’ medical records. Both apps are designed to scale as needed and provide a secure exchange of information.

Spire the best and I really appreciate the expertise and professionalism the team brings to a project. Best consulting firm I’ve ever worked with!
