Spire Responds to DBJ’s Digital List

DENVER, CO: For years, Spire Digital has been a perennial staple at the top of the Denver Business Journal’s annual ranking of Web Developers/Designers. While Spire enjoyed its biggest year ever in 2017, the 20-year-old firm boycotted this year’s ranking given DBJ’s decision to change the name of the list to Social and Digital Media Marketing Firms.

Spire’s exclusion was noted by the Denver Business Journal.

“Spire Digital, which topped last year’s Web Designers/Developers list, did not respond to our inquiries by deadline. Only those that responded to our inquiries were listed.”

Spire’s President, Adam Hasemeyer, unapologetically responded to the omission.

“Denver is full of great social and digital marketing firms, but Spire is not one of them. Social and digital media marketing firms excel at advertising and driving traffic, but Spire excels at building great applications, tools, or technologies. As one of the world’s leading digital product development firms, we focus on building software that is usable, useful, and delightful to the user. Those are the core tenets of User Experience, and they are the keys to driving conversion and cultivating loyalty with customers.

Social and digital media marketing are certainly valuable, but they are very different from what we do. Spire Digital puts emphasis on real KPIs and conversions, not marketing metrics like ‘impressions’ and ‘awareness.’ Spire prides itself on the business results it drives for its successful clients.”

Hasemeyer then stated that he loved the DBJ with all his heart, but that Spire would not take part in the list again until the name returned to Web Developers/Designers or, better yet, Digital Product Development Firms.
