A large number of our partners have been asking us how they should be communicating with their staff and customers during this tempestuous period. As a part of our COVID-19 series, we felt the need to create a short video that helps businesses in their time of need.
Below, you can listen to Ashley Remstad, Manager of Digital Marketing and Technologies at Spire, suggest multiple forms of effective crisis communication for your business.
Communicating During COVID-19: Video Transcript
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a drastic impact on companies and businesses across the globe. And while we navigate these incredibly uncertain and difficult times, Spire is doing as much as we can to support the companies and businesses we care so much about. Many clients within the past few days have reached out to us for help on how and where they should be addressing their audience in response to the Corona virus outbreak. So I’d like to take a couple minutes to provide a few tips and best ways for you to keep your customers informed.
The quickest and easiest way for you to reach out to your customers is via email. I suggest you utilize your existing contact list and template and send out an informative email with everything that you know to date. And if you’re able to, I’d also suggest offering a contact email or a phone number for people to reach out with additional questions because of how uncertain everything is at this time. You’re bound to get additional questions, so do your best and allow your customers a place to reach out if and when they need to.
The second way you can keep your customers informed is just via your website and application. Within the past few days we’ve helped our clients implement popups or info banners on their homepage. And the benefit to doing this is that users are able to be quickly informed while they’re browsing or using your platform. And there’s a variety of ways on how we can implement this- it will look different for everyone depending on how your site or application is built. The implementation process can certainly vary. But just something simple informative is really what we’re aiming for here. Ideally, you’d have a link to an internal page that provides additional information for those who are looking for it.
I hope this video is helpful to you and please feel free to reach out to the Spire team for additional questions or consulting during this difficult time. We really are more than willing to help and are striving to be the best resource we can be to our community.
